I'm going to keep the site running. if you want to use it, feel free. I'm going to keep making it nice. After doing some research and spending a few hours with WIX support, I can fill you in on the forum I set up on WIX. Here are the issues
Negatives -Posts can be deleted by the originator, unintentionally or on purpose. This is by design, because the originator of a post owns that post, and can decide to keep it or not. it's a rights thing. It's kind of important. If you can't delete your post, you have given up rights to it. At least that is WIX stand. - I do believe that content and sites are backed up internally at WIX for their purposes in case of catastrophic failure, load balance, etc. The chance of actually losing a post from something other than a deletion is really small. Positives - Runs great. It's robust and doesn't seem to do dumb things - Has unlimited storage - Free (If it gets used, I'll pay for the pro version) - Both web and mobile enabled - Is ridiculously easy to use. Not confusing to use. - Has a lot of features available not yet in use - Has a lot of cool features already in use, like live messaging, etc - It's pretty. - Larry
It definitely runs better than the old forum. It's clean and easy to use.
It's very usable from a mobile device - can't say that about the old forum.
The only downside seems to be the topic deletion dilemma, and the likely loss of all of the old content and probably a lot of members.
